The international investigation research project “An impact of corruption on the indigenous peoples rights in Russia” has been implementing by the Arctic Consult (Norway) and the BATANI foundation (USA) since December 2018.
Within the project parties agreed to implement several investigations of the concrete cases in the Russian regions and on federal level of how the organized criminal activity and corruption influence indigenous peoples and their rights on lands, resources and self-determination.
Project partners intend to elaborate new innovative methodology of gathering and analysis of information about social-economic and political development of indigenous peoples as well as about violations of their rights by state, business and other stakeholders.
The main results of the project should be science based recommendations for the strategy of sustainable development of the Russian indigenous peoples considering their right on self-determination.
In the case of detection of real facts of corruption or criminal activity during the project partners will deliver this information to Russian and international law enforcement agencies, as well as to the media.
